‘What is Coco de Mer?’ is a question that CEO Lucy Litwack must get asked a lot.
The answer? A luxury lingerie and sexual wellness brand that is beloved by the likes of Pamela Anderson and Helena Christensen – who photographed and art directed Coco de Mer’s iconic Icons campaign, celebrating the female gaze.
Not only that, Coco de Mer’s Pleasure Collection of premium sex toys is part of a positive sex movement to inspire sexual wellbeing and satisfaction.
Lucy has been Coco de Mer’s owner and CEO since 2017. She joined the business in 2014 as the Managing Director. Under her leadership, Coco de Mer’s worth has grown from being a niche business founded by Samantha Roddick, daughter of The Body Shop pioneer Anita Roddick, into a global luxury brand.
When we asked Lucy to share her Midlife Survival Kit, we were expecting a glamorous and seductive mix of items. We didn’t expect it to kick off with her beloved Maltese, Charlie.
Over to you, Lucy.
My Maltese Charlie, £Priceless.
My beloved Maltese Charlie (that’s him in the photo) means I’m always getting that morning light and fresh air – even if it’s a little on the colder, or earlier side of my preference!
He reinforces the importance of moving my body regularly, the benefits of fresh air and being amongst nature, all combined with the unbeatable sense of unconditional love. Who doesn’t thrive on that combination?!
If your life allows it, I would highly recommend offering a home to a dog in need. There are so many shelters around and so many dogs ready to give their loyalty and love.
Coco de Mer Athena Balcony Bra, £135.
The Athena Balcony Bra has the ability to transform my mood and make me feel “dressed up” in an instant. The intricate embroidery and the classic balconette shape are so flattering to the décolletage and give me the subtle uplift I adore.
This bra gives me a sense of a secret sensuality, a little extra empowerment to take on whatever the day holds.
I truly believe that lingerie is about redefining sexuality on our own terms as women. It can be our own little secret. No one else needs to know what we are wearing under our clothes, and that is very empowering.
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, £165.
There is nothing quite like that fresh morning glow and this serum is enriched with pure vitamin C to give me just that. Even after a late night, this wonder visibly brightens my skin and gives that perfect base layer of protection that is an invaluable part of my morning rituals.
Having lived in some of the busiest cities over the years – London, Paris and New York, to name a few – free radicals in pollutants are impossible to avoid. The antioxidants in this serum feel like they set to work in an instant.
It’s freshness bottled. I haven’t found anything else that works quite as well.
FaceGym Signature Hands Face Treatment, £80.
Nothing beats a good massage and Face Gym’s Signature Hands face treatment is a must. It stimulates circulation to release tension and enhance the skin’s elasticity.
When I am in need of some devoted self-care, this treatment allows me to feel both relaxed and rejuvenated, boosting my complexion and tightening my skin when I’m craving a little extra care.
I go to their St Johns Wood branch in North London, and can honestly say that Claudia’s hands are magic. It’s 50 minutes of heaven!
Coco de Mer Enraptured Figment Massage Candle, £40.
This is something of a multi-tasker. Drawing up nature’s goodness, the blend of fig and orange blossom is my favourite scent.
The nourishing oils make it an indulgent moisturiser or an equally soothing home candle to switch off from the day and slip into evening mode. This seduces the senses and relaxes the mind all at the same time.
It comes with a small bamboo spoon to help you pour the warm oil onto your skin.
White hydrangeas from Flowerbx, £Various.
I’m a loyal customer of Flowerbx. Not only are the flowers the best I’ve encountered and last brilliantly, but knowing they are sourced directly from earth-conscious flower growers makes the sight even sweeter.
I love sending them to friends just as much as I love to treat myself to a bunch.
With spring just around the corner, there is nothing quite like hydrangeas. The beautiful blooms exude freshness and elegance. With that gentle fragrance, they put a smile on my face everytime.
Their Cloud White Hydrangeas are a personal favourite, thanks to the voluptuous pearly clusters and that butter-soft texture.
